What is ?

Glad you asked.

We want to show and empower all people that they are all able. No matter who you are or how you identify yourself. If you want help with a project or want to help others with their projects. we can help you!

DAPPER is a community of people with a varied skill set, we see ourselves akin to a cooperative, where people and groups can join us and collectively put our skills and knowledge into one place, making it simpler for anybody find help and support that they may need, such as help with filling out a form or sourcing equipment to host a music event.

Just because we are Differently Abled it does not mean we are incapable.

Please do get in touch if you would like our help and/or work with us.

The seed for DAPPER came from me, Biff. I was frustrated with people taking one look at my physical disability and saying "no" before they got to know me and learn what I am actually capable of. Both of my siblings also experienced this, So I wanted to do something about it.

Talking to my friends and family, I learnt that my idea had potential and that they were supportive of it and some of them liked it so much that they joined me in starting this business.

Realising that each of my friends and family members wanted to do different things within; Performing Arts, Arts & Crafts, Live streaming, Live Events... (to name a few) the idea of making DAPPER an umbrella group came up, so we could put all of our skills under one canopy, in doing that it made it simpler for us, as we can refer to ourselves as one entity, and for clients as well, as they just need to come to one place. Rather than being told "get in touch with..." and that being the end of the interaction. Another issue I wanted to solve.

At that time the term 'Diffabled' was being used often, whilst that word explained what we were pretty well, none of us really liked it, and we actually wanted to celebrate what we are, rather than forcing two words into one, so we started saying that we were Differently Abled People.

We quickly decided that we wanted something like this in our name, but none of us were especially keen on being called DAP, so we started to think of words starting with DAP and creating an acronym around it, this was of course easier said than done. Naturally, whilst making dinner one night and not actively thinking about it, my mum had the "ah-ha" moment and DAPPER got it's name.

Slight foot note the E and R are somewhat interchangeable as we do do more than just entertainment, as the majority of our skills fall under entertainment, we chose to use it. One suggestion from my uncle was Differently Abled People Providing Education Reluctantly! :P
